What are your thoughts on team-teaching?
If you are asked this question in a job interview for a teaching position: What are some things you should avoid when responding to this question? What might be some important points to stress that would get the interviewer’s attention? How would you respond to this question?

Some things to avoid when responding this question would include mentioning that team-teaching lightens the load, and gives you more free time as a teacher.
I would mention that as a teacher, it is important to work well with others (especially because you are dealing with many different personalities all the time- including the students, parents of the students, and administration). Being able to work well and team-teach shows time, dedication, consistency, and a good work ethic, all of which are qualities needed to be a successful teacher.

I agree with this post. Never mention that team teaching takes a load off of you. Team teaching shows the students also how to work as a team.

I agree too, don't ever tell them you will have a lot more time. However, assistants are a huge help. And it does benefit the kids a lot, specially when it comes to some one on one time.

I agree. In an interview you should let the Principal know the positives of team teaching like different opinions and social skills, rather than how it will allow you to have free time.

As a teacher and individual it is important to know how to work with others. It is important to seek advice and tips from other teachers, so working with others should be something that you are completely open to doing. In order to grow as a teacher, you must always be open to new ideas and seek help when needed. Team-teaching may be new to get used to but it will benefit you as a teacher in the long-run.

If I was asked this question during a job interview I would definitely stay away from mentioning that working with other people who have opinions can be difficult. Instead, I would focus on how well I work with others. When teachers collaborate it opens a new door to the classroom. When working with other teachers it allows us to share our creativity, ideas, and the best ways to meet the needs of all of our students. Two heads are better than one!

Stress the fact that team-teaching involves making cross-curricular connections as well as writing across the curriculum. This shows that you are open and willing to work with others as well stress the importance of writing.

I think that some questions to avoid would be: teach teaching makes your job easier, and I would love to teach with another teacher to make new friends. Some important points to stress would be that: team teaching will benefit the students by bringing two different perspectives to the classroom, and it would be great to do it because each teacher could become an expert in a specific subject.
